PM Demands Transparency in Islamabad’s Jinnah Medical Complex Project


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure transparency in the construction of the Jinnah Medical Complex in Islamabad, pledging to personally oversee all stages of the project.



During a review meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that the hospital will be equipped with modern medical research facilities and healthcare services aimed at benefiting the entire region. He insisted that consultants and contractors for design, supervision, and construction should be procured through international tendering processes.



The meeting also discussed the progress of the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Center. Officials informed the Prime Minister that the project’s PC-I will soon be finalized after consultations with stakeholders. An initial capital allocation of Rs. 3.5 billion has already been transferred to the project’s trust fund.



Spanning over 600 kanals, the international-standard hospital will feature more than 1,000 beds and nine Centers of Excellence.



The review meeting was attended by federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Syed Mustafa Kamal, Advisor to the Prime Minister Syed Tauqeer Shah, MNA Anjum Aqeel, Professor Dr. Saeed Akhtar, and senior officials from relevant institutions.
