PM Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar Affirms People’s Decision in Upcoming February 8 Elections

Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, in a recent statement, emphasized that the Pakistani populace will determine their representatives in the elections scheduled for the 8th of next month. He assured that the caretaker government is committed to ensuring a peaceful transition of power following the electoral process.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during his conversation with a private news channel, Prime Minister Kakar expressed his belief in the principles of pure democracy. He noted that, akin to the developments witnessed in Europe, democracy in Pakistan is expected to progress and eventually yield benefits for its people. Kakar stressed the importance of good governance and effective performance by democratic governments to garner moral support from the citizens of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister highlighted the interim government’s efforts in advancing the country’s progress. He mentioned the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, which is designed to assist the prime minister in making informed economic decisions. Regarding the situation in Balochistan, Kakar stated his belief that once militants agree to disarm, the region’s issues can be resolved peacefully, emphasizing the sanctity of the state above individual interests.

Kakar also touched upon the sacrifices made in the war against terrorism, pointing out the need for reforms in the criminal justice system. He lamented the loss of over 90,000 citizens in the conflict, contrasting it with the relatively low number of convictions in courts for these deaths. This stark discrepancy underscores the urgency for judicial reforms to effectively address the consequences of terrorism.
