Planning Minister Urges Swift Preparations for N-25 Expressway Launch

Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has tasked the National Highway Authority with finalizing arrangements for the upcoming groundbreaking of the N-25 Expressway, scheduled for the 14th of next month.

During a meeting held in Islamabad to assess the progress of the N-25 project, the minister underscored the need for well-equipped service areas on both sides of the expressway. These service areas are to include rest zones, fuel stations, eateries, vehicle repair workshops, and other essential amenities.

Minister Iqbal highlighted the importance of consulting with representatives from trucking companies to identify optimal locations for these service areas, aiming to provide comprehensive services for truck drivers.

Addressing security concerns, Iqbal recalled the loss of 42 Frontier Works Organization workers during the construction of the N-85 and emphasized the necessity for stringent security measures. He communicated this urgency to the Balochistan government, stressing the importance of securing both Gwadar city and the N-85 route.

Iqbal proposed the formation of a dedicated security force for the N-25, with its deployment to be synchronized with construction schedules.

Anticipating future traffic demands, Iqbal instructed that the expressway’s development should facilitate its expansion to six lanes when needed. He described the N-25 as a crucial link between Sindh and Balochistan and a potential gateway to Central Asia, highlighting its role in enhancing Balochistan’s socioeconomic landscape.

The minister urged stakeholders to aim for project completion by August 2027, emphasizing its significance as a landmark development milestone for the nation.
