Islamabad: The Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, has underscored the importance of socio-economic development as a sustainable solution for districts affected by conflict. He made these remarks while chairing the second Steering Committee meeting on the socio-political domain, following directives from the Central Apex Committee regarding the revised National Action Plan 2021.
During the meeting, Iqbal highlighted the critical challenge posed by terrorism in Balochistan, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach that integrates civilian and security agencies’ efforts. He advocated for a holistic strategy to counterterrorism that prioritizes inclusive development and governance.
The Minister pointed out that achieving national development is contingent upon maintaining internal peace and harmony. He urged provinces to take initiative in their developmental, educational, and governance efforts, particularly in combating terrorism.
Iqbal accentuated the necessity for provinces to adopt this agenda as a national priority, encouraging proactive engagement and effective inter-provincial collaboration. He stressed that such cooperation is crucial for success in these troubled regions.
