Islamabad: Planning Minister Prof Ahsan Iqbal recently chaired a meeting to oversee the advancement of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) projects in Balochistan, calling for immediate identification and resolution of any obstacles to ensure timely completion. The minister underscored the importance of judicious budget use, prioritizing projects essential to the province’s needs amid economic restrictions.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting was aimed at evaluating the ongoing PSDP projects. Minister Ahsan Iqbal instructed the Government of Balochistan to quickly pinpoint and address any issues impeding project progress. He highlighted the critical nature of resource allocation to vital projects given the current economic conditions. The discussions covered a range of projects, with specific instructions to hasten the completion of those that are over 70% complete.
Moreover, Minister Iqbal advocated for the involvement of the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) to employ satellite imagery in monitoring the projects’ development across Balochistan. He noted that this technology would facilitate real-time assessments and enhance decision-making processes.
The meeting saw participation from several key figures, including the Secretary of Communication, the Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA) along with his team, the Additional Secretary of the Government of Balochistan, JCE Operations, Member Infrastructure, and senior officials from the Planning Ministry. This high-level review underscores the government’s commitment to accelerating development initiatives in Balochistan, ensuring that economic and infrastructural advancements are not hindered by preventable delays.
