Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal Aims to Elevate Pakistan’s Economy to $1 Trillion by 2035


Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has announced a strategic commitment to propel Pakistan into a trillion-dollar economy by 2035, leveraging the 5Es Framework. This ambitious goal was discussed during the inaugural meeting of a high-level Policy Board, which includes the Planning Ministry and the Planning Commission of Pakistan.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Policy Board, featuring a blend of public and private sector leaders, is tasked with improving the country’s economic planning process through enhanced transparency and expert participation. The 5Es Framework focusing on exports, digital development, environmental sustainability, energy, and equity alongside the 13th Five-Year Plan and Vision 2030, are central to these efforts.



Minister Iqbal emphasized the critical role of the Policy Board in ensuring the successful implementation of these strategic initiatives. He highlighted the importance of the board’s expertise in influencing national budget formulation, aiming for a process that is both transparent and influenced by diverse industrial insights.



The meeting saw active contributions from notable figures such as Ex-Caretaker Federal Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar, Chairman Interloop Limited Musadaq Zulqarnain, Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad Dr. Rana Iqrar, and U.S.-based IT expert Naveed Sherwani. These members expressed strong support for the government’s economic transformation plans, acknowledging the potential impact of this high-level collaboration on achieving sustainable growth and economic stability.
