Planning Commission’s Policy Board Convenes Under Ahsan Iqbal to Boost Pakistan’s Economic Planning and Transparency


Islamabad: The inaugural meeting of the Planning Commission’s Policy Board was chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal. This significant gathering saw the participation of the Secretary of Planning, private sector representatives, corporate leaders, and various field experts.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting aimed to advance transparency and refine the economic planning strategies of Pakistan, leveraging expertise from the private and corporate sectors. Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that the Policy Board will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial operations and formulating strategic plans across short, medium, and long-term scopes. The integration of the 5Es Framework into the national 13th Five-Year Plan and Vision 2030 was highlighted, focusing on exports, digital development, environmental sustainability, energy, and equity.



The discussion underscored the critical role of the Policy Board in influencing national budget formulation to enhance transparency and reliability. Ahsan Iqbal urged members to actively contribute their insights, transforming the Planning Commission into a comprehensive think tank for advancing national development. The meeting concluded with a unified commitment to propel Pakistan towards economic stability and a trillion-dollar economy by 2035 through collaborative efforts with various sectors and stakeholders.
