Lahore, June 28, 2021 (PPI-OT): Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid chaired the 13th Meeting of Board of Governor at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute here on Friday. Present on the occasion were Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Barrister Nabeel Awan, Chairperson Professor Dr. Javed Raza Gardezi, Dean Professor Dr. Faisal Dar, Hospital Director Professor Dr. Tazeen Zia and Ambreen Irfan whereas Additional Secretary Finance Khusro Parvez joined via video link.
The Health Minister said, “On directions from Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, I have come here to give encourage the team of PKLI especially Chairperson PKLI Professor Dr. Javed Raza Gardezi and Dean Professor Dr. Faisal Dar for their excellent work. The PKLI is moving to the right direction and serving people under leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The PKLI has performed 70 liver transplants within a short span of time. The PKLI has performed 157 Kidney Transplants so far. We are trying to make PKLI useful for not only Punjab, but also for Pakistan.
The government assures it support for the completion of all projects being undertaken by the PKLI. The institution has been built with public money. We are spending public money on public. The functioning of the PKLI has helped us save a lot of resources. The PKLI shall continue to serve people. Free dialysis shall facility and the Bone Marrow Transplant facility shall be provided very soon here. We want to see the PKLI emerging as a Teaching Institution.
We will produce Master Trainers from doctors, nurses and paramedical staff and impart international level training. We are introducing latest system of waste management. Very soon, will invite Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. The PKLI shall serve as a model facility for other institutions of Punjab.” Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department said that the PKLI achieved big a short span of time. Chairman PKLI Professor Javed Raza Gardezi said the institution is providing services to a large number of patients. Dean PKLI Dr. Faisal Dar said that facilities are being gradually scaled up for public.
