Pishin: A high-profile international boxing event, supervised by the Progreen Boxing Federation and organized by the Asian Boxing Club, recently concluded at Tik Tok Base, marking a significant occasion on Pakistan’s Independence Day. The event saw fierce competition between boxers from Pakistan and Afghanistan, underscoring sports as a bridge between the two nations.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the tournament featured eight professional fights, including a notable match where Pakistani boxer Asghar Khan, also known as Chhotabhai John, secured a victory over Afghan contender Sher Ahmed. Another highlight was Pakistani Hamza Khan’s narrow victory over Umar Khan of Afghanistan by one point, although the judges ultimately declared the match a draw to honor the spirit of hospitality and foster better relations between the spectators and players from both countries. Pakistan claimed two titles and participated in six fights, while Afghanistan took home one title from two fights. The event was attended by dignitaries such as Subedar Major Mehran Hussain and PDSP Ainuddin Kakar, among others, who presented gold medals to the winning Pakistani boxers, celebrating the victories and the event’s role in promoting peace and friendship through sports.
