Pishin Highlights Importance of Spinal Health on World Spinal Day

Pishin: In observance of World Spinal Day, Dr. Adeel Ahmed Khan, a noted social activist and physician, addressed the critical importance of spinal health, citing the global prevalence of spinal cord injuries affecting over 15 million people. His message emphasized the necessity of adopting preventive measures to safeguard the spine from common threats such as accidents and diseases.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Dr. Khan detailed the various causes of spinal injuries, including road traffic accidents, falls, and sports injuries, as well as medical conditions like tuberculosis and infections. He stressed that many of these injuries could lead to severe mobility issues or even be fatal if not properly managed.

The physician also underscored the significance of proper medical consultation and care following spinal discomfort or injury, noting that improper handling of spinal injury cases can exacerbate the condition. He highlighted the specialized equipment and training required to handle such injuries correctly, including the use of spinal boards for safe patient transfer.

Dr. Khan’s message was part of a broader initiative by Merck Balochistan, which conducts educational programs on spinal injury types, patient transfer protocols, and first aid treatments. These sessions are designed to equip both medical professionals and the public with essential knowledge to manage spinal injuries effectively, ensuring prompt and correct responses in emergency situations.
