PINKTOBER EVENT IN ISLAMABAD PROMOTES BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

Islamabad, An awareness ceremony related to Pinktober, focusing on breast cancer awareness, was organized today at the Islamabad Medical and Dental College along with Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital in Islamabad.

According to a news release by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the event aimed to educate the public about self-examination techniques, regular screenings, and disease treatment. It featured awareness stalls, pink-themed posters, and ribbons, with a strong emphasis on early disease detection, a pivotal factor in reducing mortality rates.

Prominent attendees at the event included Principal IMDC Professor Dr. Syed Irfan Ahmed, Executive Director of Hospital Ghulam Mujtaba Abbasi, and Director Dr. Areej Niazi. During the ceremony, Dr. Areej Niazi stressed the importance of educating male family members about the disease. Such knowledge will empower women to overcome societal taboos and stressors associated with a breast cancer diagnosis.

She also pledged to collaborate with various stakeholders to aid breast cancer patients. As part of the campaign, attendees learned about diagnostic services available at affordable rates on Fridays and Saturdays at the hospital’s executive clinics located in G-8 Markaz.
