Peshawar Press Club Goes Solar: A Milestone Project Completed by Caretaker Government

Peshawar, The Peshawar Press Club’s solarization project has been successfully completed, marking a significant development for the journalists of the region. The project, initiated under the caretaker government, is set to bring considerable annual savings for the Press Club.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the late Muhammad Azam Khan, former caretaker chief minister, showed a special interest in the project. Under the leadership of caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice (R) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, the project was swiftly completed. During a visit to the Press Club, Caretaker Minister of Information and Public Relations, Culture, and Tourism Barrister Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhel addressed journalists, emphasizing the collaborative relationship between the Department of Information and Public Relations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Press Club.

Minister Kakakhel also discussed initiatives under the Journalists Welfare Endowment Fund aimed at stabilizing press clubs and supporting unemployed journalists in the province. He highlighted the pressing issue of irresponsible and negative use of social media, referencing the Kohistan incident as an example of the repercussions of such misuse. The Minister called for stricter social media laws to curb irresponsible postings and emphasized the vital role of journalists in mitigating the negative impact of social media on societal values and institutional integrity.

During his visit, Minister Kakakhel also inspected the new installations at the Press Club. Accompanying him were Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Secretary Information Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah, DG Information and Public Relations Muhammad Imran Khan, Press Club President Arshad Aziz Malik, and senior journalist M Riaz, among others.

The completion of the solarization project at Peshawar Press Club is not only an achievement in terms of energy efficiency and cost savings but also reflects the government’s commitment to supporting journalism and addressing broader societal challenges.
