Peshawar, Preparations for the upcoming Shandur Polo Festival are in full swing, as key governmental and local stakeholders convened under the leadership of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry to finalize arrangements for the event.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting included high-level officials from various departments and agencies, including the Civil Aviation Authority and the Chitral Polo Association. They reviewed current preparations and discussed enhancements needed for the festival. The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of swift and thorough planning to ensure the festival’s success, which is expected to boost local and national profiles on an international scale.
The discussions also covered infrastructure improvements, such as accelerating roadworks and ensuring emergency measures for landslide scenarios, to facilitate tourist access to the event. The upcoming dates for the festival, set at the highest polo ground in the world, will be determined after weather consultations. Moreover, special arrangements for accommodation and local handicraft promotions were planned to enrich the festival experience and stimulate the local economy.
