Peshawar Hospital Boosts Sustainability with New 250 KW Solar Power Project


Peshawar, In a move to enhance healthcare services and address energy sustainability, the Health Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, inaugurated a 250 KW solarization project at the Women and Children Hospital in Charsadda. The project, carried out in collaboration with UNICEF, aims to provide an uninterrupted power supply to critical hospital departments and is part of broader efforts to combat energy shortages and promote green energy solutions.



According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the inauguration ceremony featured notable attendees, including MPAP 64 Iftikharullah, DG Health Dr. Muhammad Saleem, DHO Charsadda, and Chief of UNICEF Peshawar Office Radoslaradak. The project, which cost Rs 68 million, focuses on powering the Obstetrics and Neonatology Departments and an Alcigen production plant. Health Minister Shah highlighted the project’s dual benefits of improving local healthcare and contributing to environmental sustainability by mitigating climate change through renewable energy adoption.



The Health Minister also emphasized the broader implications of such projects, noting that improving facilities in Charsadda can alleviate the strain on Peshawar’s hospitals and help tackle the regional challenges posed by frequent power outages and the federal government’s energy policies.
