Peshawar High Court Upholds ECP Decision to Annul PTI’s Intra-Party Poll

Peshawar, The Peshawar High Court today ruled in favor of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), lifting the stay on the ECP’s decision to nullify the intra-party poll of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and withdraw its election symbol of bat.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the court had previously reserved its verdict on the case concerning the election symbol and intra-party elections of PTI. This decision comes after the Peshawar High Court had initially suspended the ECP’s decision last month, following a plea from PTI.

The ECP had filed a review petition in the Peshawar High Court, challenging the earlier order that had suspended the decision related to PTI’s election symbol. Today’s court ruling supports the ECP’s authority and its initial decision regarding the PTI’s intra-party elections.

This development marks a significant turn in the ongoing legal tussle over the internal democratic processes within one of Pakistan’s major political parties.
