Peshawar Health Minister Reviews Provincial Healthcare Performance

Peshawar, The provincial stock-tech meeting for April was chaired by Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah, focusing on the review and improvement of primary healthcare services across the region. The meeting highlighted issues such as the functionality of medical equipment, the availability of essential medicines, and staffing challenges in healthcare facilities.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Health Minister received detailed presentations on various aspects of healthcare management, including daily outpatient visits and sanitation status at primary healthcare centers. Concerns were raised about the 57% availability of 37 essential medicines at the provincial level and the financial management of funds allocated to District Health Officers (DHOs). The meeting also addressed significant absenteeism among medical officers and the underperformance of primary healthcare facilities in several districts.
