Persistent Fog and Cold Weather Expected Across Pakistan, Warns National Weather Forecasting Centre

Islamabad, The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Islamabad has issued a warning of continuous fog over the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Upper Sindh this week, advising citizens to exercise caution.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, a shallow westerly wave currently over the western parts of Balochistan is influencing the weather conditions. For Saturday, cold and dry weather is anticipated in most parts of the country, with very cold conditions expected in the northern regions and northern Balochistan. Dense fog and smog are likely to persist in Islamabad, Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plains of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The forecast for Sunday predicts similar cold and dry weather across most of the country, with very cold conditions in the north. However, there is a possibility of rain and snow over the mountains in north-west Balochistan. The dense fog and smog situation is expected to continue in the aforementioned regions.

Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather has prevailed in most parts of the country, with very cold conditions in the northern areas. Dense fog and smog have been observed in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, and Islamabad. Light rain was recorded in upper Sindh and southern Balochistan.

The lowest minimum temperatures recorded today include Leh at -11°C, Skardu at -10°C, and other areas like Kalam, Gilgit, Gupis, Astore, Srinagar, Kalam, and Hunza registering temperatures ranging from -05°C to -03°C.
