Srinagar, June 29, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Peoples Conference general secretary Imran Reza Ansari on Tuesday said that senior leader and former deputy chief minister, Muzaffar Baig, never joined the PC and was not a member of the party.
Ansari said Muzaffar Baig is not a member of the PC, there may be some confusion but no he never joined the party. He said that though PC Chairman Sajad Lone visited Baig’s residence, but he went only after being sure and being convinced that Muzaffar Baig wanted him to visit his residence and was looking forward to welcome him. Politics was discussed there and he was very thankful to PC for getting Safina Beig elected as DDC (District Development Council) chairperson, he said. Ansari said that PC helped Safina Baig to become the DDC Chairperson.
On being asked if Baig is not a member of the party, why he accompanied Sajad Lone to participate in All-Party Meeting (convened by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 24), because Muzaffar Baig expressed a desire to go to the meeting with Sajad Lone and requested if he can take him along to the meeting. “But at no point did we have any remotest idea about what he is going to speak inside and neither did he had any idea about what we were going to speak inside,” Ansari said. He said Muzaffar Baig himself has made it clear that he doesn’t belong to any party. “We share a personal relationship with them. But we have nothing in common with them politically. Nothing at all,” Ansari added.
Meanwhile, Muzaffar Baig in a debate show on an Indian news channel also said he is a leader of any party as he yet not decided to which he belongs or to which party he wants to be in. It is worth mentioning here that Muzaffar Hussain Baig had met the Sajad Lone and other PC leaders on March 17, this year. And even the Peoples Conference on its twitter handle had announced that Muzaffar Baig was now part of the party.
