PEMRA Advises Media to Follow ECP’s Election Code of Conduct


Islamabad, The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a directive to all national electronic media outlets, advising them to strictly abide by the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the upcoming elections scheduled on February 8.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, PEMRA emphasized that all its licensees are obligated to follow the ECP’s guidelines during the election period. The ECP’s code of conduct specifies that any violation will be treated with seriousness. Additionally, the directive mandates that allegations made by one candidate against another must be confirmed from both sides before any legal action is initiated. This measure is aimed at ensuring fair and unbiased media coverage during the electoral process.
