PDP Champions Restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Iltija Mufti Announces

Srinagar: Iltija Mufti, a leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has reiterated her party’s dedication to restoring Article 370, alongside advocating for statehood and addressing key regional issues.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mufti discussed her party’s goals during a media interview where she also extended well-wishes to the National Conference (NC) and Congress on their recent electoral win. “People expect them to fulfill the promises they made. I hope the new government is established swiftly and meets the expectations of the public,” she commented, reflecting on the potential for significant political changes in the region.

Further detailing her party’s objectives, Mufti emphasized the PDP’s commitment to reinstating Article 370, which granted special autonomy to the region until its abrogation in August 2019. “We will fight for the restoration of Article 370 and resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue,” she declared, signifying a robust political endeavor to address longstanding disputes and governance challenges.

Mufti also advocated for the continuation of the Darbar Move, a practice involving the biannual shifting of governmental offices between Jammu and Srinagar, highlighting its cultural and economic importance to the region. She criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its political maneuvers in the region, urging respect for the democratic process following the NC-Congress alliance victory.
