PDMA Sindh Deploys 58 Dewatering Pumps to Combat Flooding

Karachi: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has taken significant measures to manage the ongoing rainfall in the province by providing 58 dewatering pumps to various district administrations and municipal corporations. Syed Salman Shah, Director General of PDMA Sindh, visited different parts of Karachi to inspect rainwater drainage operations in the city’s low-lying areas.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Shah stated in a press release that the efforts are aimed at addressing the flooding caused by recent heavy rains. The PDMA Sindh has deployed 13 heavy-duty dewatering pumps to tackle waterlogging in Karachi’s low-lying areas. Additionally, 26 heavy-duty dewatering pumps have been provided to district administrations and municipal corporations in Sukkur and Rohri to assist with rainwater drainage.

In Kashmore, four heavy-duty dewatering pumps have been supplied to the deputy commissioner to support ongoing rainwater drainage efforts. Jacobabad has received three heavy-duty dewatering pumps to aid in the removal of floodwater from low-lying zones. Matiari has been equipped with four heavy-duty dewatering pumps to clear rainwater from flood-prone areas. In Hyderabad, eight heavy-duty dewatering pumps have been provided to the district administration and municipal corporation for effective rainwater drainage.

DG PDMA Syed Salman Shah emphasized the authority’s commitment to mitigating the impact of the rainfall and ensuring efficient water removal across the affected regions. He urged the public to stay informed through official channels and adhere to safety precautions during this period of heavy rainfall.
