PDMA Conducts Extensive Relief Operations in Flood-Affected Mianwali

Lahore: In response to severe flooding in the Isa Khel and Mianwali tehsils of Mianwali, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has intensified relief efforts, establishing multiple relief camps and safeguarding both residents and agricultural lands from further damage.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 06 August 2024, the flooding, caused by the overflowing of rain drains, has inundated several areas, affecting numerous villages and approximately 2,100 acres of agricultural land. PDMA’s swift actions have reportedly prevented any loss of life or significant property damage, with timely evacuations and rescue operations ensuring the safety of local populations and their livestock.

Director General PDMA, Irfan Ali Kathia, emphasized the comprehensive nature of the ongoing relief efforts, including the provision of food, transportation, and health services such as disease prevention for cattle. The authority remains fully engaged in the rehabilitation of the affected areas, with administrative officers actively coordinating in the field to facilitate recovery and aid distribution.
