Pattan Traders Stage Shutdown Over Police Inspector’s Transfer

Srinagar: The Traders Union Pattan has initiated a complete shutdown in Pattan town today, protesting the transfer of a well-regarded local police officer, Inspector Khalid Fayaz, from the Police Station Pattan in Baramulla district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the union, along with the entire business community excluding medical shops, has closed down to express opposition to the unexpected reassignment of Inspector Fayaz, whom they consider “people-friendly.” This move is expected to disrupt daily activities and commerce throughout the town.

Nasir Shah, president of the union, actively encouraged local traders and shopkeepers to participate in the shutdown through an audio message, highlighting the community’s strong sentiment against the decision. The traders’ actions reflect broader displeasure with policies perceived to undermine local stability and law enforcement in Pattan.
