Islamabad, The government has enhanced passport services in Chaman district to facilitate the local population’s movement across the Pakistan-Afghanistan international border. This development comes as part of the One Document Regime, aimed at easing cross-border travel for residents in border regions.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Passport Office in Chaman, which previously had only one room, has now been expanded to include ten counters to cater to the increasing demand for passport services. Significantly, two of these counters are exclusively designated for women, emphasizing the government’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
Additionally, a new Passport Office with five counters has been inaugurated in Qilla Abdullah. This extension is expected to serve the residents of Chaman, Qilla Abdullah, and nearby areas more efficiently, allowing them to obtain passports with greater ease.
Local residents, who have been visiting the Regional Passport Office, expressed appreciation for the government’s initiative. The expansion of passport services in these areas is seen as a significant step towards facilitating smoother travel for citizens living in border regions, particularly in terms of legal and administrative procedures involved in international movement.
