KARACHI, Pasban Democratic Party Vice Chairman Abdul Hakim Quaid has called on the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to intervene and secure the academic future of MM Law College students who face the risk of losing a year due to administrative issues.
According to Pasban Press Information Cell, Quaid emphasized that the students of MM Law College should not be penalized for the mistakes of the college administration. He pointed out that the students’ right to education is paramount and that barring them from exams due to administrative oversights not only jeopardizes their future but also the future of the country.
The situation arose when the University of Karachi did not issue enrollments for fifty students of SM Law College, despite collecting fees for first-year exams. The controversy stems from the decision of the administration of Pasban College, leading to potential academic disruption for the students involved. Quaid highlighted that the students have dedicated a year to their studies and are now facing the possibility of having their efforts nullified.
Quaid further stated that the Caretaker Government of Sindh must address this critical issue urgently and direct the University of Karachi to issue the enrollments immediately. He questioned the rationale behind withholding enrollment for fifty students when one hundred others had been processed.
The vice chairman asserted that Pasban would stand by the students and, if necessary, is prepared to take legal action to ensure their right to education is not compromised. He condemned the mismanagement and indicated that such issues could lead to public disengagement from national affairs.
Quaid called upon the college management to rectify the situation promptly to preserve the college’s reputation and to prevent further negative impact on the students’ educational paths. In the statement, he reflected on the broader implications of such administrative failures, suggesting that they contribute to a growing apathy among the populace towards national issues due to a preoccupation with economic struggles and societal unrest.
Pasban’s stance brings to light the urgency of educational reform and the importance of accountability in educational institutions to safeguard the interests of the nation’s youth and, by extension, the country’s future.
