Islamabad: Shahid Usman, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Industries and Production, visited the Engineering Development Board (EDB) for a detailed briefing on the organization’s activities. Engr. Khuda Bukhsh Ali, the CEO of EDB, along with senior management and other officers, were present during the session.
According to Press Information Department, the CEO of EDB outlined the board’s functions and achievements since its inception in 1995. The briefing included an overview of EDB’s current roles, such as policy formulation, market development, export promotion, industry support, and the adoption of vehicle regulations. Mr. Usman praised the efforts of the EDB’s management in formulating key policies, including the Auto Industry Development and Export Policy (AIDEP 2021-26) and the Mobile Device Manufacturing Policy.
The Parliamentary Secretary emphasized that EDB’s focus on promoting innovative technologies aligns with the government’s vision. He acknowledged EDB’s initiatives in promoting the local manufacturing and early adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) to foster a sustainable transport system. Mr. Usman also commended the EDB for its role in shifting mobile phone production from imports to local manufacturing and its ongoing efforts to localize and boost exports in the automotive sector.
The CEO of EDB expressed gratitude for the visit and assured continued facilitation of the engineering sector under the Ministry’s guidance. Mr. Usman assured further collaboration with the EDB to support industrial development, business growth, and employment generation in line with the Prime Minister’s vision.
