ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Minority Caucus convened a meeting at Parliament House in Islamabad under the leadership of Senator Danesh Kumar to discuss minority places of worship and the implementation of the minority recruitment quota within the Islamabad Police.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the meeting included briefings from various officials, including the Director General of the Culture, Tourism, Archaeology and Museum Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on the restoration of the Gorakhnath Temple. A proposal for a 300 million budget was recommended by the convener to expedite conservation efforts. Additionally, officials from the Evacuee Trust Property Board discussed the current status of minority worship sites, emphasizing the need for community involvement in their management. Members advocated for these sites to be managed by respective religious communities to improve conditions and address ongoing issues.

The caucus also addressed the minority quota in police recruitment, with police officials noting that 97 minority members joined the force in 2023. However, new recruitment has been stalled due to a court stay order. The committee called for strict compliance with quota policies in future recruitments.

In attendance were several key figures, including Minister of State Mr. Kesoo Mal Kheal Das and various members of the National Assembly. The meeting concluded with plans for further discussion on these matters in subsequent sessions.
