Islamabad: The Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs commended the Prime Minister’s Public Affairs and Grievance Wing for resolving an impressive 96% of public complaints, marking a substantial improvement in addressing citizen concerns. The committee, chaired by Mr. Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, met at Parliament House on September 23, 2025, where the Secretary presented the Wing’s annual performance report.
The report revealed a significant increase in the number of complaints handled, with 17,975 grievances addressed in the current year, a 189% surge compared to 6,356 cases in 2022-23 and a notable rise from 9,501 complaints in 2023-24. This improvement follows a restructuring of the Wing’s operations based on the committee’s earlier suggestions.
The Ministry introduced the Public Grievance Management System (PGMS) in September 2024 to further enhance the complaint resolution process. This system focuses on improved efficiency, broader national reach, and data analysis for policy development.
To maximize public relief efforts, the committee requested the Ministry to pinpoint government departments receiving the most complaints. This information will guide the committee’s future engagements, allowing for targeted action on issues affecting citizens. Discussion on the Election (Amendment) Bill 2025 was postponed due to the mover’s absence. Several members of the National Assembly, including Raja Qamar-ul-Islam, Ch. Mahmood Bashir Virk, and others, along with Ministry officials, attended the meeting.
