ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR) convened a briefing session titled “Budget Through Children’s Lens: Post-Budget Analysis 2026-2027” to examine the Federal Budget from a child rights perspective. The session, led by Convenor Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, was organized in collaboration with the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) Pakistan and included Members of the National Assembly, Parliamentary Secretaries, and subject experts.
According to the National Assembly of Pakistan, Dr. Khan highlighted the importance of assessing whether the budget adequately allocates resources for children’s education, health, nutrition, protection, and overall well-being. Budget expert Mr. Amer Ejaz presented an analysis focusing on child-related expenditures, including education, health, nutrition, WASH, and disaster management.
Participants, including Ms. Shaista Pervaiz and other parliamentary members, engaged in discussions on improving child-focused budget allocations. They collectively committed to addressing gaps in child-specific expenditures in future budgets. Dr. Khan expressed gratitude for the contributions of Mr. Ejaz, Syed Kausar, and Maryam Jawad, and extended appreciation to parliamentary members and National Assembly officers for their support.
