Parliamentarians Face December 31 Deadline for Asset Disclosure


Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced that all Members of Parliament and Provincial Assemblies must submit their Statements of Assets and Liabilities for the financial year 2023-24 by December 31, 2024. This requirement extends to the assets and liabilities of their spouses and dependent children.



According to Press Information Department, the submission is mandated under Section 137 of the Elections Act, 2017. The law stipulates that members who fail to comply by the deadline will have their names published publicly by the Election Commission on January 1. Additionally, those who do not submit the required documents by January 15 will face suspension from their legislative roles until they fulfill this obligation. Members submitting false statements may be charged with corrupt practices within 120 days of submission.



The necessary Form-B, along with detailed instructions, can be obtained at no cost from various designated offices, including the Election Commission Secretariat in Islamabad and the offices of Provincial Election Commissioners. The form is also available for download on the Election Commission’s website.
