PARC and KOPIA to Launch Seed Potato Complex in Islamabad


Islamabad: The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), in partnership with the Korean Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA), is set to inaugurate a new ‘Seed Potato Complex’ at the National Agriculture Research Center in Islamabad. This initiative aims to boost local agriculture by producing virus-free potatoes and enhancing crop output.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the inauguration, scheduled for tomorrow, will be led by the Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain. The announcement came during a meeting today between Minister Hussain and a delegation from KOPIA, headed by the Korean Ambassador Park Kijun.



During the meeting, Ambassador Kijun reaffirmed Korea’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s agricultural sector by transferring modern technology and providing training to local farmers. Minister Hussain highlighted the enduring and cooperative relationship between Pakistan and Korea, emphasizing the importance of these partnerships in advancing agricultural technology and output.



The Minister also discussed the broader benefits of this collaboration, including the establishment of an aeroponic greenhouse to enhance seed potato quality and support cutting-edge agricultural research. He expressed confidence that KOPIA’s support would address key issues of food safety and security, and contribute to sustainable agricultural development in Pakistan.
