Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Munir Akram Discusses Key Issues with NDU Delegation in New York


NEW YORK, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram, has provided a comprehensive briefing to a delegation from the National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad, on crucial international and regional issues, including Pakistan’s efforts and stance at the UN.



According to Kashmir Media Service, the delegation, led by NDU’s Chief Instructor Major General Naeem Akhtar, comprises 12 members and is visiting the United States as part of their National Security and War Course (23-24). During the meeting, Ambassador Akram emphasized Pakistan’s active participation in all UN organs, with a particular focus on the Kashmir dispute. He highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Pakistan Mission to push for the implementation of Security Council resolutions concerning the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and to bring international attention to human rights violations in the Indian-occupied region.



Additionally, Ambassador Akram pointed out Pakistan’s significant contributions to UN peacekeeping operations worldwide. He also addressed the internal challenges Pakistan faces, naming terrorism as a primary threat to national security and acknowledging the substantial sacrifices made by Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.



The session concluded with a question-answer segment, where the delegation engaged with issues such as the challenges of peacekeeping, the current conflict in Gaza, the paralysis of the UN Security Council, and the geopolitical competition between China and the USA.
