Pakistan’s Top Military Official Engages in Strategic Talks with Italian Defense Leaders


Rome: General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the Chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, has engaged in a series of high-level meetings with Italian defense officials during his official visit to Italy. General Mirza’s discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new collaborative opportunities in defense and security.



According to a statement by Inter Services Public Relations, General Mirza met with Mr. Guido Crosetto, Italy’s Minister of Defence, General Luciano Portolano, Chief of Defence Staff, General Carmine Masiello, Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, and Mr. Carlo Gualdaroni, CEO of Leonardo. The meetings addressed the evolving geo-strategic environment, underscoring a mutual commitment to enhance existing partnerships and explore new areas of cooperation.



Italian civil and military leaders commended the professionalism of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, acknowledging their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. The acknowledgment reflects a recognition of Pakistan’s role and efforts in regional security.



During his visit, General Mirza was also honored with a “Guard of Honour” by a military contingent at the Italian Armed Forces Headquarters, marking a ceremonial welcome to the visiting Pakistani official.
