Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, underscored Pakistan’s strategic significance in a rapidly changing global landscape during his keynote address at the “Pakistan and the Evolving Global Order” event in Islamabad. He emphasized the need for Pakistan to leverage economic diplomacy to ensure stability and prosperity.
According to Press Information Department, Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the shift in global dynamics, noting that economic strength is now the determining factor for national success. He cited the United States and China as examples of nations that have risen to prominence by focusing on economic relationships over traditional political alliances. He pointed to Pakistan’s geographical advantage as a bridge connecting South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East, suggesting that this position could facilitate Pakistan’s emergence as a hub for trade and economic connectivity.
Discussing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Minister emphasized its positive impact on Pakistan’s economy, citing job creation and infrastructure development as key benefits. He also called for increased investment in renewable energy, particularly solar power, and stressed the need to introduce Pakistan’s textile industry to global markets. Iqbal expressed a commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s IT sector by improving infrastructure and creating a favorable business environment for technology firms.
The Minister advocated for strengthening trade ties with major global powers, including China, the United States, the European Union, and Gulf countries, through innovative cooperation strategies.
