Pakistan’s Progress in Education Highlighted by Ambassador Masood Khan

Islamabad, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, emphasized Pakistan’s significant advancements in the educational sector, noting improvements in accessibility, quality, achievements, and gender equality.

According to a news release by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, while speaking at the Annual Gala event of the DC chapter of The Citizen Foundation (TCF)-USA in Washington, Ambassador Khan acknowledged that there remains substantial work to ensure education for every child and maintain high standards. To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Khan emphasized the need for more educational institutions, increased funding, infrastructure development, hiring qualified educators, enhanced gender equity, updated curricula, and the adoption of contemporary educational technologies.

Masood Khan lauded TCF-USA’s impactful efforts, noting the foundation’s establishment of 1,900 schools that serve almost 300,000 students. Specifically, the DC chapter has been instrumental in setting up 43 schools throughout Pakistan’s less privileged regions, providing over 5,000 children with educational opportunities. The ambassador also mentioned TCF’s assistance during last year’s severe flooding in Pakistan and the challenges of the COVID pandemic, underscoring the organization’s widespread reputation both domestically and internationally.

The prominent annual fundraising gala witnessed the participation of approximately 700 illustrious attendees, including top businesspeople, professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders of Pakistani origin. The event successfully raised $3,510,400, with commitments from the Pakistani-American members of TCF-USA to sponsor the construction and operations of seven additional schools.
