Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian pursuit of self-determination and freedom, as he met with Palestinian Ambassador Dr. Zuhair Mohammad Hamadallah Zaid in Islamabad. The meeting highlighted Pakistan’s condemnation of Israel’s actions and emphasized the need for a ceasefire.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif expressed deep disappointment over the lack of international accountability for Israel’s actions, particularly those since October 7, 2023, which have resulted in significant casualties. He called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and urged for the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid to affected Palestinians in the occupied territories.
The Prime Minister assured the Palestinian Ambassador of Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to supporting their cause. He underscored the importance of a just resolution to the Palestine issue, advocating for a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital, in line with United Nations resolutions.
Ambassador Zaid expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s consistent support, highlighting the humanitarian aid and educational opportunities provided by Pakistan to Palestinians. The Prime Minister wished the Ambassador a successful tenure in Pakistan and assured continued support.
