NEW YORK: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities and called for strict adherence to ceasefire arrangements. He also urged the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese territory and the full implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The two leaders assessed the state of bilateral relations and expressed their determination to strengthen the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Lebanon. Discussions included enhancing bilateral cooperation through high-level exchanges, trade and investment, defense, and institutional linkages. They also underscored the importance of continued coordination at the United Nations and other multilateral forums.
