Islamabad, On the occasion of Desertification and Drought Day 2024, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving land degradation neutrality and enhancing community resilience across Pakistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the importance of land stewardship under the theme ‘United for Land: Our Legacy. Our Future.’ He highlighted the significant challenges posed by desertification, land degradation, and drought in Pakistan, which affect millions of lives. The government aims to tackle these issues through sustainable land management, reforestation programs, and innovative agricultural techniques.
The Prime Minister called for a collaborative approach to address these environmental challenges, involving stakeholders from communities, civil society, the private sector, and international partners. By uniting these efforts, he expressed confidence that Pakistan could combat land degradation effectively and ensure a sustainable future for the nation.
