Pakistan’s President Denounces Indian Supreme Court’s Ruling on Kashmir’s Special Status

Islamabad, Dr. Arif Alvi, the President of Pakistan, has openly denounced the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to affirm the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, an area referred to as Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by Pakistan. This strong reaction comes amid heightened tensions and longstanding disputes between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, President Alvi expressed his disappointment with the Indian judiciary, accusing it of yielding to what he termed “fascist Hindutva ideology” and aligning its decisions with the Indian government’s interests. He maintained that the court’s ruling could not legitimize India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that the region is an internationally recognized dispute that has been on the United Nations Security Council’s agenda for over seventy years.

The President further condemned the Indian Supreme Court’s decision, citing it as part of a pattern of biased rulings against Muslims in India, referencing cases such as the Babri Masjid, Samjhauta Express, Hyderabad Mecca Masjid blast, and the Naroda Gam massacre during the 2002 Gujarat riots. He insisted that the verdict could not alter the status of IIOJK.

President Alvi stated that the judgement would only strengthen the resolve of the people in the occupied territory in their fight against what he described as “Indian illegal occupation.” He called on the international community to hold India accountable to its past commitments to the Kashmiri people.

Concluding, the President reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, in line with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, underscoring the nation’s commitment to backing the Kashmiri struggle both morally and diplomatically.
