Pakistan’s PQI Summit 2024 Highlights Economic Growth Strategies


Islamabad: The Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives launched the National Productivity, Quality, and Innovation Summit 2024 in Islamabad, focusing on strategies to enhance Pakistan’s economic growth and global competitiveness. Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal underscored the importance of productivity, quality, and innovation for sustainable economic advancement during his opening address.



According to Press Information Department, the event gathered a diverse group of stakeholders, including academics, industry leaders, and government officials, to discuss strategies for economic improvement. Ahsan Iqbal reflected on Pakistan’s progress since independence, noting achievements and areas where the nation has lagged behind. He highlighted the historical economic comparisons with China, Bangladesh, and India, emphasizing the need for strategic decisions to ensure future success.



Ahsan Iqbal cited Vision 2025 as a foundational element for Pakistan’s aspirations, referencing past achievements and challenges faced since 2018. He pointed to recent economic indicators such as rising stock markets and export growth as signs of recovery, but stressed the necessity for political stability and policy continuity. He outlined key sectors for development, including human resources, IT, agriculture, and mining, and advocated for aligning products with global standards.



The summit’s themes centered on productivity, quality, and innovation as essential for economic success. Ahsan Iqbal projected potential export growth from $30 billion to $100 billion by embracing these principles. Secretary Planning Owais Manzoor Samra reinforced the significance of eliminating inefficiencies and adopting modern technologies to drive progress. The event concluded with Ahsan Iqbal announcing the forthcoming “5Es Framework” from the Prime Minister, aimed at promoting sustainable development and positioning Pakistan on the global stage.
