Islamabad, The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, has reasserted the nation’s dedication to eradicating the polio virus, a key public health priority. This commitment was highlighted during a phone conversation with Bill Gates, Co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, while in the United Arab Emirates.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the call, Prime Minister Kakar expressed gratitude for the Gates Foundation’s support in Pakistan’s efforts to achieve a polio-free status. The discussion was a follow-up to their meeting in September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.
Kakar briefed Gates on the current progress of the polio vaccination drive in Pakistan, demonstrating the country’s active measures to combat the virus. He expressed satisfaction with the excellent cooperation between the Pakistani government and the Gates Foundation, reiterating his commitment to realizing a healthier, safer, and financially inclusive Pakistan.
The conversation also touched upon related public health issues, including malnutrition and maternal health, underscoring the comprehensive approach to improving healthcare in Pakistan.
