Pakistan’s PM Discusses Enhanced Agricultural Cooperation with Cargill CEO


Davos, Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, held a productive meeting with Brian Sikes, Chief Executive Officer of Cargill, the largest private American global food corporation, on the sidelines of the 54th Annual meeting of the World Economic Forum. The meeting focused on strengthening trade ties and boosting the agricultural sector’s development between Pakistan and the United States.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister commended Cargill’s contributions to enhancing the agricultural sector and fostering robust trade relations with the U.S. He highlighted the significant efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, emphasizing its role in promoting business and foreign investment in Pakistan. The Prime Minister also briefed the CEO of Cargill on the establishment and outcomes of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, showcasing the steps taken to attract foreign investment.



During the conversation, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar detailed the government’s initiatives under the Council’s guidance to ensure food security in Pakistan. Brian Sikes, in response, expressed appreciation for the Pakistani government’s efforts to provide a conducive environment for investment, particularly in agriculture and food security.



In a related development, the Caretaker Prime Minister shared his vision on social media, stressing the importance of realizing the full potential of Pakistan’s agricultural sector. He called for increased investment in modernization and mechanization to achieve food security goals.



The meeting and subsequent discussions underscore the commitment of Pakistan’s government to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure food security through international cooperation and investment.
