London: A high-level parliamentary delegation from Pakistan, led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has arrived in London to advocate for a resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The delegation aims to engage with UK officials and international media to project Pakistan’s stance on recent tensions with India and call for peace in South Asia.
The nine-member team was appointed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to emphasize the need for resolving the Kashmir issue in line with UN Security Council Resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The delegation includes key figures such as the Minister for Climate Change, Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, and former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar.
In London, the delegation plans to meet with senior UK parliamentary leaders and All Parties Parliamentary Groups on Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir. Meetings are also scheduled with officials from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
The delegation’s visit follows successful engagements in Washington and New York. Their outreach will include discussions with leading think tanks and international media to showcase Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace.
The delegation will highlight Pakistan’s responsible conduct in the face of what it views as India’s aggressive actions. They will advocate for dialogue and diplomacy to take precedence over conflict, urging the international community to promote lasting peace in the region.
The delegation will also underscore the importance of resuming the normal function of the Indus Waters Treaty, a key issue in Pakistan-India relations.
