Pakistan’s Naval Chief Engages in Talks on Maritime Security with Saudi Leadership

RIYADH, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, conducted an official visit to Saudi Arabia, engaging with high-ranking officials from the Royal Saudi Armed Forces. The discussions revolved around potential bilateral naval cooperation and broader regional maritime security concerns.

According to Pakistan Navy, during his meetings with Gen Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Chief of the General Staff of Saudi Armed Forces, at the Ministry of Defence, and Vice Admiral Fahd Bin Abdullah al-Ghofaily, Commander of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces, at the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) Headquarters, the emphasis was on enhancing naval collaboration and fortifying maritime security. Admiral Ashraf highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s endeavours in promoting maritime peace and stability in the region. This includes its Regional Maritime Security Patrols (RMSP) initiative and its involvement in the Combined Maritime Force.

Vice Admiral al-Ghofaily recognized and lauded the Pakistan Navy’s efforts in bolstering maritime security collaboratively in the region. He also emphasized the importance of a robust bilateral defense partnership.

In a ceremonial gesture, upon Admiral Ashraf’s arrival at the RSNF Headquarters, he was honoured with a Guard of Honour. He was also provided a briefing on the training programs and ongoing operations of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a deep-rooted fraternal relationship. Admiral Ashraf’s visit is anticipated to further strengthen and expand the defense relations between the two nations, focusing especially on naval ties.
