Islamabad: Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan, recently participated in the Trans-Regional Seapower Symposium (TRSS) in Venice, Italy, where he emphasized the crucial role of preserving underwater environments for global stability. His visit included pivotal meetings with international naval leaders, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to collaborative maritime security and environmental conservation.
According to Pakistan Navy, the TRSS brought together naval leaders from around the world to discuss the preservation of the underwater environment, an increasingly vital aspect of global maritime strategy. During his keynote speech, Admiral Ashraf highlighted the importance of integrating stringent international regulations, cutting-edge technologies, and effective conservation strategies to safeguard the world’s marine resources.
The symposium also served as a prelude to the AMAN Dialogue, an upcoming multinational naval exercise hosted by the Pakistan Navy. Admiral Ashraf outlined the dialogue’s goal to enhance international cooperation on maritime security issues, including the sustainable use of underwater resources.
On the sidelines of the symposium, Admiral Ashraf engaged in strategic discussions with several key figures, including the First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy, Admiral Sir Ben Key, and the Chief of Naval Operations of the U.S. Navy, Admiral Lisa Franchetti. These talks covered a range of topics from bilateral naval collaboration to emerging security challenges in the maritime domain.
The visit concluded with meetings at the Italian Secretary General of Defence’s headquarters, where Admiral Ashraf and Italian defense officials discussed enhancing naval cooperation and addressing shared security challenges.
