Islamabad: Today, the National Assembly of Pakistan unanimously passed a resolution urging the international community to take decisive measures to stop what it describes as Israel’s oppression and brutalities in Palestine. This resolution, spearheaded by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, specifically calls on the United Nations Security Council to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza and hold Israel accountable for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the resolution demands the immediate recognition of the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations and calls for the swift withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza. The resolution also emphasizes the need for sustained and unhindered humanitarian support to the Palestinians.
The assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was highlighted as exacerbating the ongoing conflict, with the National Assembly condemning the act as a deliberate conspiracy to derail peace efforts in the region. The resolution further criticizes extrajudicial and extraterritorial killings as escalating tensions and undermining global peace efforts.
The session closed with a fateha for Ismail Haniyeh, reflecting deep solidarity with the Palestinian people from all members of the assembly, across both government and opposition benches. The members collectively denounced the ongoing violence and called for global intervention to address human rights violations in Palestine. The House is scheduled to reconvene on Monday.
