Pakistan’s Marble Industry Poised for Growth as Government Calls for Strategic Plan

Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, has urged for the development of a comprehensive strategy to enhance Pakistan’s marble industry. In a meeting held with the Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC), discussions focused on aligning the quality of local marble with international standards, such as those of Italy.

Mr. Khan pointed out the untapped potential within Pakistan’s marble sector, emphasizing its significance in boosting the national economy through increased exports. He noted the government’s dedication to improving the quality of marble to meet global benchmarks, which would potentially elevate export levels and augment foreign exchange earnings.

The special assistant also mentioned that revitalizing the marble industry could generate thousands of employment opportunities, thus supporting both industrial growth and local livelihoods. He stressed the necessity for adopting modern technology and innovative techniques to enhance both the quality and efficiency of marble production.

At the meeting’s conclusion, Mr. Khan instructed PASDEC to devise a comprehensive plan within a week. This plan should aim to improve the quality, productivity, and global competitiveness of Pakistan’s marble industry.
