Islamabad: On National Minorities Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have both heralded the significant contributions of minority groups to Pakistan’s societal and national development. The day serves as a reflection of the country’s commitment to uphold the constitutional and religious freedoms promised to its diverse communities.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari emphasized that minorities in Pakistan are entitled to all political, economic, and social rights as guaranteed by the Constitution. He reiterated the government’s dedication to empowering these communities and enhancing interfaith harmony. The President expressed confidence in the ongoing positive impact of minorities on Pakistan’s progress.

Prime Minister Sharif, in his statement, acknowledged the pivotal role played by minorities in both the Pakistan Movement and the nation’s ongoing development. He cited the historical address of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on August 11, 1947, as foundational to the state’s principles of religious freedom and minority rights.

Additionally, the Armed Forces of Pakistan, alongside the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Services Chiefs, recognized the indispensable contributions of minority communities to the nation’s prosperity and cultural heritage. The ISPR underscored that these groups are crucial to the social fabric of Pakistan, with their rights and freedoms being sacrosanct and protected under both the Constitution and Islamic teachings.

This observance underscores a nationwide commitment to fostering an inclusive society where the rights and contributions of all communities are acknowledged and celebrated.
