Islamabad, Pakistan’s information technology (IT) exports have experienced a significant increase, marking a 13% growth in the last 30 days, As per Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology, Dr. Umar Saif. This uptick is part of a consistent rise observed over the past five months, positioning the country on a hopeful path toward achieving a $10 billion target in IT exports.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a recent interview with a private news channel, Dr. Saif shared insights into the strategies propelling this growth. He underscored the critical contribution of the IT sector to the national economy, noting the government’s commitment to enhancing this industry through various incentives, facilities, and rewards. These measures are designed to bolster IT exports and support the sector’s overall expansion.
Dr. Saif highlighted the impressive scale of Pakistan’s online freelancing community, which boasts over 1.5 million registered freelancers, securing the country’s position as the second-largest freelance market globally, following the United States. This robust freelancing community is a key driver of the IT export surge, showcasing the country’s emerging talent and capabilities in the global digital landscape.
The minister’s confidence in reaching the ambitious $10 billion IT export target reflects the government’s proactive approach to fostering innovation, supporting digital entrepreneurship, and enhancing the IT infrastructure to meet global demands.
