Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, alongside Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, announced a robust plan to tackle the effects of climate change in Pakistan during a news conference held today. The Minister emphasized the country’s low contribution to global carbon emissions and highlighted the disproportionate impact of climate challenges on Pakistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar detailed the government’s strategy to engage with international partners to combat the negative impacts of climate change effectively. He stressed the importance of grassroots awareness programs and public participation in tree planting initiatives as essential measures to mitigate environmental risks.
The Minister also praised Romina Khurshid Alam for her efforts in establishing strong connections with global entities focused on climate issues. Alam, in her address, referred to the commitment of one hundred billion dollars in climate finance from developed nations to developing countries as a significant development in international climate policy.
This pledge is seen as a vital step toward supporting countries like Pakistan that are severely affected by climate-related disasters despite having a minimal role in global emissions. The conference underscored the need for continued international collaboration and financial support to implement effective climate solutions in vulnerable regions.
